The Culprit

I figured out what made my red velvet cake taste like feet. But not before I ruined a whole entire batch of carrot cupcakes. :( yep. that's right two days in a row. two epic fails. a whole batch of red velvet cake = in the garbage. a whole batch of carrot cupcakes(that surprisingly also tasted like feet) = in the garbage. a second batch of carrot cupcakes = safely in the oven right now, not tasting like feet. So what made the difference between the good, the bad, and the horrifyingly ugly/smelly? rancid oil. That's right, the oil was bad. who knew that oil could make that much of a difference? not me. now you know. Moral of the story: always smell your oil BEFORE pouring it into your batter.
